Help you can get

You can get extra support if your health condition or personal circumstances make it difficult when you contact HM Land Registry, for example, you might need extra support if:

  • You have dyslexia, autism, or cognitive difficulties
  • You have reduced mobility or physical disabilities
  • You have sensory disabilities, like a visual, hearing or speech impairment
  • You have mental health conditions, like depression, stress, or anxiety
  • You have another condition which makes standard print or filling in forms difficult
  • You need information in a different format such as Braille or large print
  • You need information in another language

We can provide help if you:

  • Cannot use a telephone and need a different way to contact HMLR
  • Need information in a different format
  • Need help filling in forms
  • Need information in another language
  • Need someone to talk to HM Land Registry for you

In order to help us understand how best we can support you

  • Tell us what you need help with or what information are you trying to get
  • Please provide us with as much information as you feel comfortable with together with information about any assistive or adaptive technology you may use.

Please note that due to the nature and format of the documents we hold there may be limitations in providing documents / information in some alternative formats.


Statutory limitations

We may be able to provide a copy of an application form in braille, but we cannot accept a form only in braille as it forms part of the permanent record of the title so needs to be accessible to future customers.

We cannot complete forms on your behalf.


Technological limitations

Most modern documents (including the standard font we use in outgoing correspondence) are created using technology that can be read by assistive technology. However, a lot of old conveyancing documents we hold are simply scanned images which cannot be read by the relevant technology.


Financial limitations

If you want something in a different format, we will aim to provide it. However, we sometimes have to use outside bodies to provide a document in a different format and there is a cost involved. We have to understand the customer need first before agreeing as we usually bear any costs.
