I am planning to make a voluntary first registration for a 1970s house, I do not foresee any problems but I wonder very roughly how long typically the application will take to be be processed and approved by the Land Registry.

I ask as the property may be sold soon and I wondered if it was better maybe to let the purchaser undertake the FR1 process, but that presumably could delay the transaction considerably?

Thank you.

Richard - Information on current processing times for applications which require creation of new register can be found on our website under the section titled Complex changes and new entries.

If the delay in registration causes any difficulties or holds up some transaction, then there is an option to request expedite.

Hope this helps.
