Hi Adam The purchasers of DY584262 DE6 3EN (first reg 14th November 2024) are trying to trace the historic deeds for their property and are having no luck with either the selling or buyers conveyancers. As I understand it, the deeds are submitted to the LR to allow the first registration to take place. Are you able to see what has happened to them since please? Have they been returned to the solicitor registering or do LR still have them, or have they been destroyed I wonder. Any assistance would be appreciated. Thanks Michael

Hi Michael - the deeds/documents submitted are returned to the conveyancer following first registration We only retain the application form and list of documents submitted and copies of those deeds/docs/plans then referred to as being 'filed' on the actual register
You'll need to check with your original conveyancer to see if they have retained anything perhaps.
You may wish to refer them to our blog as well - Where are my title deeds, and do I need them? – HM Land Registry
