Hi Adam,

We previously engaged a property management company for the communal areas (please see the attached document TP1 for reference). We are now planning to transfer this responsibility to a new property management company.

Could you please advise:

  1. Which forms or documents we need to complete this transfer?

  2. Whether this process can be done by us directly (DIY), or if it requires legal or professional assistance?

Looking forward to your guidance.

Hi Muhammad - our online guidance explains how to transfer the legal ownership - Registering land or property with HM Land Registry: Change the registered owner name - GOV.UK
You can DIY but land registration is complex, designed to protect legal and financial interests in property. There can be significant consequences for any error. Please consider seeking legal representation. Before making an application without legal representation, it is important to consider the benefits of using a conveyancer.

Muhammad - if you are transferring the whole of a registered title or multiple titles then it would be a TR1
However if you are transferring part of a registered title or titles then form TP1 would be used.
So the key Q for you is are the communal areas all registered under one or multiple titles and whichever it is are you transferring the whole or part
