Expecting Adam to the rescue here...

Due to needing title deeds changed by assent on my property, I have been in the process of completing AP1, AS1, and ID3 verification forms for myself and my sister, who are now joint property owners. I have been told that all forms are in order and are now good to send, however I have a question regarding part two on the ID3 form. The identity of both myself and my sister has been confirmed both in person and with official documentation by a solicitor who has filled in part 2 of the ID3 with his professional registration number and passport details, etc. However section 2.1 “, about your role “, does not actually list a solicitor as being a profession allowed to verify identity. It does however list a doctor or dentist, and the solicitor said he was confident that his name and details would be perfectly sufficient for the purpose of verification. He simply wrote “solicitor” under the other professions. However, before sending the final documents through with the fee, could somebody please provide clarification on this as I am of course worried about documents being rejected on a technicality. Many thanks in advance for any help you are able to give.

Kevin - you maybe over-stating my role here
Form ID1 is for use by a conveyancer (inc a solicitor) when verifying your identity. Not for ID3
Form ID3 is for other professionals as listed
You need to be using form ID1 and not ID3 if a solicitor is verifying your identities

Ah. Therein may be the problem then. The solicitor is not overseeing the whole procedure and sending in all forms for us. He has simply looked over what I have completed, and has said that it's all in order (which, if we cannot use ID3 forms is an error). I was under the impression that for the "DIY" option ID3 form was used and ID1 was only if they were overseeing the whole thing for us. I may need to go back and print ID1 forms instead and get him to re-verify. Does seem bizarre that a dentist is accepted on the ID3 but not a solicitor?

Kevin - ID1/conveyancer is for verifying identities alone. Matters not if they are acting for you re the actual conveyancing or not.
As some people choose not to use a conveyancer for the whole procedure or can't access one easily then we provide the ID3/others as listed as an alternative for them to use.
If you asked a solicitor, who may not do conveyancing, to confirm your identity using form ID3 he might not be aware of the above and/or the alternatives available. Not all solicitors do conveyancing

Understood. Two ID1's will be printed out forthwith, and I'll let him know about the error, and bin the ID3's. Hopefully I don't get double-charged due to the mix-up.
Thanks as always for the concise and speedy response.
