I and a friend own a property in common, with a 90/10 split. We have agreed that, in return for me paying off all the mortgage, my friend will transfer his 10% interest to me. No other payment is involved.

In completing TR1 should box 4 (transferor) name both of us, or just my friend. How should box 8 be completed?

Many thanks for help.

Paul - the legal ownership is always transferred as a whole so the two of you would be transferors

Form TR1 should be used where the whole of the land or property is being transferred (including shares in the property). Guidance is available to help you complete the Form TR1 correctly there is also a "YouTube" video on

Land registration is complex, designed to protect legal and financial interests in property. There can be significant consequences for any error. Please consider seeking legal representation. Before making an application without legal representation, it is important to consider the benefits of using a conveyancer.
