Hello,<br> <br> I own my own property with a mortgage (I am the sole owner). I am divorced and want to change the name with land registry title deed back to my maiden name. Nothing else will change. Do I need to complete an ID1 form to confirm my identify or not when completing the AP1 form? <br> <br> Also can someone please support in advising what I need to write in box 4 On the AP1 form <br> <br> Thankyou

Hello Sophie - if you are 'simply' reverting back to your maiden name following a divorce then ID1 is not generally required. It is required though if you have for example changed your name by deed poll, which some people may elect to do for own/other reasons.<br> The following explains what we require from you <p>Complete <a href="https://www.gov.uk/government/publications/change-the-register-ap1">form AP1</a> to change your name on the proprietorship register. Read the guidance to get <a href="https://www.gov.uk/government/publications/change-the-register-ap1/guidance-completing-form-ap1">help completing form AP1</a>. There is also a "<a href="https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=YRiIDIcq50Q&list=PLrY9B8h0rdXgt6Dsp0vZGs6dOgPhb-wRK&index=11">Youtube</a>" video which may assist you.<br> Panel 4 can be completed to refer to say "Change of name on divorce"</p> <p>If you want to go back to your previous name, you can send a certified copy of either:</p> <ul> <li>the marriage certificate</li> <li>your final order (called decree absolute (for marriages) or dissolution (for civil partnerships) before 6 April 2022), if the process took place in your original name, not the married name</li> </ul> Or you can send a certificate from a solicitor to state that: <ul> <li>The person known as (name on the register) is now known as (new name)</li> </ul> <strong>There is no fee for this type of application</strong> <p><strong>Where to send your application</strong></p> <p><u><a href="https://www.gov.uk/guidance/hm-land-registry-address-for-applications#standard-addresses">HM Land Registry address for applications.</a></u></p>
