Charge on property

Hi can anyone tell me how long its taking for a charging order to be dealt with 
my father passed away 3 years ago, property in his name 
My mother engaged a solicitor to deal with the house transfer to her name and it has come to light that a charge is on the property 
She instructed the solicitors 5 months ago and has heard nothing
