I would appreciate clarification regarding the completion of Form ID1.

If a solicitor is personally connected or related (e.g. a family member) to the individual whose identity is being verified, but is also a qualified conveyancer acting in their professional capacity, are they permitted to complete and sign Form ID1?

I have reviewed Practice Guide 67, which outlines the requirements for a verifier, but it does not explicitly address whether a personal relationship disqualifies a solicitor from acting as the verifier.

Could you please confirm whether such a solicitor can act as the verifier, provided they meet all professional requirements (e.g. SRA number, practising certificate, professional address)?

Thank you in advance for your guidance.

Martyn - being a solicitor and family member does not preclude them from verifying a person's identity. They are doing so as a solicitor and PG 67 does not address the point as a result
