On his death, legal ownership passed – by operation of law, without any additional documentation – to you as the survivor. BUT the 'tenants in common' status means that his share of the benefit passes into his estate. It then goes by Will; if there is no Will, there are statutory rules dealing with intestacy. This applies even if he left a Will that gives his share to you. Take legal advice from the solicitors winding-up his assets, either way.

It says that in event of death the survivor will become sole owner There wasn’t need for solicitor as everything was left to me no probate needed

A W - sorry to read of your loss. As you were registered joint owners probate is not required as the legal ownership passes to you to deal with as appropriate. The TIC aspect you refer to generally means that there's a form A (joint ownership) restriction on the register If you are now the sole legal and beneficial owner you can apply to update the register re the death and apply to cancel the form A restriction at the same time - see our PG 6 sections 4 and 8 for guidance on the forms DJP, RX3 and ST5 required https://www.gov.uk/government/publications/devolution-on-the-death-of-a-registered-proprietor

A W - such matters can be confusing and if you remain unsure after reading the PG 6 guidance please do seek legal advice/assistance as appropriate
