I am a private individual -  both parents sadly died a short period apart in 2022-23. 
The family house was held tenants in common (equal share) between both
No action was taken at LR follow death of first parent. 
The desire of the 2 beneficiaries of the will (which leaves all 50.50 to each) is to transfer the house to 1 of the beneficiaries.
Is this a straight forward update to the registry. ?

Richard - it can be - see our online guidance for assistance re the simpler aspects of transferring the ownership. 
If the TIC aspect has been protected by a form A restriction on the register then that will need considering also - see PG 6 section 7 for additional guidance 
I would generally recommend having a read of the linked guidance and checking the register before seeking wider legal advice as well just to confirm what's needed legally re the estate and TIC/shares you refer to as well
