A possessory title has been granted to a landowner on ground that has been a highway for over 200 years. The route now has blocked access at the land covered by the possessory title. It was regularly walked by locals before the way was blocked.

How can I object to the obstruction of the highway?

This route is a green lane and was not adopted as a road in the 1920s. The Ramblers have made a strong case to the local council for the route to be recognised as Byway. How can I object to the possessory title or at the very minimum ensure the lands right of use as a highway is preserved in any full grant of title?

Ian - Please refer to our Practice Guide 4 and 5 which deal with claim of ownership under adverse possession. There is a section which refers to objection. You can access the Practice Guides through the link - Land registration: Practice guides - GOV.UK
