We are about to sell a house and the estate agent noticed that my wife's first name is shown as Julia instead of Julie on the title. What is the procedure for correcting this please? I assume it is probably best to do this now rather than have it potentially causing a problem during the conveyancing process?
Thanks
phil.

Phil - you/your conveyancer can report the error - Public guidance: dealing with land and property - GOV.UK
If it was an error in the paperwork as submitted then ensure you/they include a copy of her passport (name) page/driving licence as appropriate
You'd have to ask the buyer/conveyancer whether it was a problem during the selling/buying process although the answer would most likely be a Yes

Thanks for the response.

It was definitely an issue during the conveyancing when we purchased the property. We have two copies of the title, one that the solicitors gave us when we purchased the property, and an update from when we later changed our contact address. The mistake is on both versions. Obviously we have no way of knowing whether the solicitor sent the wrong information or whether the LR  made a mistake entering it into the register (I suspect the former). We're really surprised that the solicitor never noticed the error at the time. I am also surprised that the LR processed the change of address if the name we specified on the form didn't match what was on the register.

We used the contact form on the website to contact LR, and my wife says they have said to either fill in AP1 form (which looks overly complicated for this simple task) or to send a letter requesting the change, and including certified copy of photo id.
If we send a letter, is there a specific form of words recommended?

Thanks
Phil.

Phil - no specific words to use so I would suggest relying on your posted explanation and then confirm the wrong name and right name to be clear re what's to be amended. And include the supporting evidence as mentioned
If you use form AP1 then complete panels 1-7 inc and 15 only and supply the supporting evidence as mentioned
