I am in the process of buying a flat and this last thing that is holding up the sale in the Lease of the flat. Apparently, the sellers solicitors cold only provide a copy of the leasehold so this now needs to be authorised by Land Registry. My solicitors has said this type of application can't be expedited but this is holding up the sale. Is there a way I can chase this/follow this up? how long does this type of query take?

Thank you

Chloe - not too sure what needs to be 'authorised' by us but can you share the title number perhaps and a bit more detail re what the issue is?

Hi Adam, they have said because the copy of the lease isn't the original or a copy isn’t held at Land Registry it needs to be certified?
I haven't got the Title Number at the minute but I have emailed asking for that information this morning.

Hi Chloe - many thanks and that makes more sense to me now. They are trying to update the registered information by providing a 'fresh' copy of the lease for our own records which a seller/buyer can then rely on
Such requests are normally dealt with quickly but if you can get the title number or enquiry reference or share the address then I can take a look and see if it can be escalated in some way

That's brilliant. The address of the flat is 30A Washington Terrace, North Shields, NE30 2HG.

Thanks very much, that would be greatly appreciated as I am currently homeless so would like for this to be sorted as soon as possible.

Chloe - understood. It does look like we are waiting for a response from the conveyancer to a contact made this morning. Hopefully your own efforts with them re your enquiry will trigger that
