How many ID2 forms for one company?

The company in question is the freeholder (which happens to be the lessees' management company).
An individual person is extending his lease (i.e. a new lease being granted) at nil premium, and the lessee is represented by a solicitor. This is the situation for the two flats which he owns in this block.
The freeholder company is NOT represented, hence ID2 required, possibly for each transaction/lease.
The solicitor has stated that "We will need two separate ID2 forms for each Flat" - presumably because each lease is being signed by 2 directors of the freeholder company, but who are not themselves parties to the transactions.
Please can you confirm that only ONE ID2 is required (in relation to each new lease)?
And, indeed, that the individual officer of the company (whose identity is being verified with the ID2) does not even need to be one of those who actually signs the new lease?
Many thanks.

Ronald - the first thing to state is that it's the solicitor who is requesting the forms at this stage and that may not be solely for registration purposes.
The second thing is that our guidance re identity verification is set out in PG 67 and explains what we require on submission of the application to register - Evidence of identity (PG67) - GOV.UK
Form ID2 is used to verify the identity of the person representing the company and that would usually be a single person - see Completing forms ID1 and ID2 - GOV.UK for examples
Identity verification in form ID2 is not linked directly to the names of those who execute a deed on behalf of the company
