Hi, my mum died and myself and my brother are her beneficiaries. My brother wants me to buy him out of the house.
I know I need to put the house in my name but it will result in me owning two houses. I need advice on stamp duty tax please and the process I need to do now I have probate. Many thanks

I am sorry to read of your loss.
Our online assisted guidance explains how to transfer the ownership when buying out the other beneficiary. Complete the Qs asked and the correct guidance will then be revealed with links to the required forms etc
If you have not checked the current registered information for the property then we would always recommend you do so before applying to update it
You will need to contact HMRC to query what stamp duty issues/payments arise

Land registration is complex, designed to protect legal and financial interests in property. There can be significant consequences for any error. Please consider seeking legal representation.
Find out about making an application without legal representation.
