I am looking to remortgage my leasehold property but been advised by the proposed lender that they require a formal written of consent from the Secreatry of State in order for them register a legal charge against the Property. Anyone come across this before? Would the "Secretary of State" be the freeholder (in this case a housing association).

James - if they need a consent then it's usually with regards a restriction registered on the title. If there is one then it needs to be complied with as appropriate
