Hello,
I have taken over as clerk of a registered charity that owns land already registered at HMLR.
I need to take over as contact for the registration from the retired clerk. I've started down the road of filling in form COG1, but reached the part where my identity needs to be verified. I believe the charity counts as a "corporate body" so then I need to fill in an ID2 and get my identity verified by a legally recognised person, such as a lawyer or Notary Public.
Before I get embroiled in all that and expose my charity unnecessary costs, isn't there a way that the previous contact could vouch that I am the person taking over?
Any guidance greatly appreciated,
Doug Amos

Hello Doug - if you need your identity verified then the option you suggest is not available to you.
I assume the Charity is registered as the legal owner and the clerk is named as the contact person + address
You need form COG1 and your identity verified using form ID2 as directed on the form - Update registered owners' contact address (COG1) - GOV.UK
Our online guidance explains how to complete the verification and who with - Completing forms ID1 and ID2 - GOV.UK
