Unregistered land not registered within 2 months

I have a query about unregistered land transfered  as a gift over a year ago but not registered.  Can an application be made now with the transfer and deeds even though it's outside of  the 2 month period. The registration appears to have been an oversight and is this a genuine reason to get an extension from the land registry 

Suryana - yes it can be made now and simply include an explanation as to why the 'delay' when lodging it
