I WOULD LIKE SOME ADVICE ON UPDATING HOUSE TITLE DEEDS PLEASE.
MY WIFE HAD OUR HOME BUILT IN 1973 , PRIOR TO US MEETING AND THE HOUSE TITLE DEEDS ARE IN HER NAME.

WE MARRIED IN 1977 AND IT WAS ALWAYS OUR INTENTION TO PUT THE HOUSE TITLE DEEDS IN JOINT NAMES BUT REGRETTABLY IN OUR 48 YEARS OF MARRIAGE THIS IS NOT SOMETHING THAT WE HAVE MANAGED TO ACHIEVE.

COULD YOU PLEASE ADVISE WHETHER THIS IS STILL POSSIBLE TO DO THIS AND IF SO, INFORMATION ON THE PROCEDURE REQUIRED TO THIS ?

MANY THANKS ,

DAVID GENT

Hello David - It is still possible.

Your wife needs to transfer the whole of the title to both of you.  The guidance on our website on GOV.UK indicates our requirements - Change the name on the proprietorship register to the new owner's name

Please note, Land registration is complex, designed to protect legal and financial interests in property. There can be significant consequences for any error. Please consider seeking legal representation. Before making an application without legal representation, it is important to consider the benefits of using a conveyancer.

Hope this helps.
