We are in the process of setting up a mortgage and the finance company's solicitors have come back with a query about an area of land abutting the property, out in the street in front of the house in the roadway. This looks like a very strange thing as it is a public roadway with other houses all along the road on each side. See attached image.

Could it just be a mapping error?

Neither of the previous solicitors on both sides who set up the previous mortgage have any knowledge of this. This is causing a delay that we can't afford. Who do we ask about this to expedite the issue or is it better to wait and see what the solicitors say?

Maryann - the screenshot is taken from our MapSearch service. The service is designed to enable users to identify the title number(s) for specific properties. They should be relying on the actual title plan(s) and not MapSearch to confirm the registered extents.
If they are trying to amend the MapSearch information then they can do that but it may not need to cause the delay you refer to. But very much one for them to explain
There's no expedite process re such enquiries/requests but if you have title number/enquiry reference or post code I can take a look?

Thank you Adam. The postcode is CW1 3TY. (number 41) I don't have the title number to hand but can find it out.

The title number is CH60701

Maryann - many thanks. So the issue is with a patch of land outside the actual property boundaries and how the road is registered. There's no mapping error and just two titles either side of an unregistered portion of the road
There's no enquiry pending against the title number quoted so am unsure what it is they have raised and how. If they can provide you with the enquiry reference then that would help
