Search LR documents

As well as a small area of registered land our property has an area of unregistered land both we have possessed for 18 years. The property next door had a similar area unregistered but at some time in the past it has been registered.Would it be possible for the LR  to search next doors records to find out how they did it so we could do the same? If it's possible what would I ask for? If it's not possible we will have to go for adverse possession.  Thank you    Philip
