Historical ownership documentation

Hi<br> <br> I am trying to find out who owned a property historically and I have the date they bought the house.&#160;<br> <br> Do I need to fill out an HC1 form which asks for a specific date? If so, would I put the date the property was bought or a later date? As I’m not sure when the title register would have updated.&#160;<br> <br> thank you&#160;

Hi Tomris - you need the right edition date so what's the title number please and what is it you are trying to confirm precisely?

I need to find out who were the registered owners of the property between 28 jan 2002 (sold) and 2nd nov 2006, however, I’m not sure which date to put on the form to request this information.&#160;<br> &#160;</p> <p>thank you&#160;</p>

Tomris - so you need the register edition dated 6th Feb 2002. That edition will show the registered owners as per the purchase on 28th January. That edition confirms you as a joint owner.<br> The one prior to that edition is dated 26th Feb 1998 and the one after is&#160;dated 27th Nov 2006 when the property was next sold.&#160;<br> The alternative is to apply by post using form OC2 for a copy of the actual Transfer dated 18th Jan 2002 -&#160;<a href="https://www.gov.uk/get-information-about-property-and-land/copies-of-deeds">Get information about property and land: Get a copy of the deeds - GOV.UK</a>
