I need to obtain evidence of the most recent open market sale of a leasehold property before 14 February 2022. This has to be an Official Copy of the register from the Land Registry. The property has had three changes of ownership recorded at HM Land Registry: 1999 – original purchase on the open market (the transaction I need to evidence). 2018 – transfer between spouses (not an open market sale). 2021 – transfer between spouses (not an open market sale), although registration was not completed until April 2022. The current Official Copy of the Register only shows the latest proprietorship entry from April 2022 and therefore does not show the original 1999 proprietor or purchase. How can I obtain an Official Copy of the register (or any other official Land Registry document) showing the original 1999 registration and/or transfer? I already have an unofficial historical copy of the register showing the earlier entries, but this is not accepted as evidence because it is not an Official Copy. If an Official Copy of a historical register is not available, what is the correct Land Registry document to obtain as official evidence of the 1999 transfer?

Byron - you can apply for historical editions of the register using form HC1 and/or apply for official copies of specific Transfers using form OC2 https://www.gov.uk/search-property-information-land-registry
