We would like some guidance regarding a transfer of ownership. My husband and I have agreed to transfer the ownership of our house from his name to mine for financial restructuring reasons. The property has an ongoing mortgage under £100,000. We are aware of the forms we need to fill (AP1, TR1, and ID1), and we also know that we need to contact the mortgage lender to request their consent (restriction in the title register). We'd like to know whether we can fill the forms in ourselves, or if we need to request a conveyancer/solicitor's services? In our case, would the consideration in TR1 simply be the amount of mortgage left on the property?

Karandeep - you don't have to use a conveyancer/solicitor but odds are your mortgage lender will insist that you do as part of their giving consent.

As far as your Q re consideration we can only refer you to our online guidance on how to complete form TR1 https://www.gov.uk/government/publications/registered-titles-whole-transfer-tr1/guidance-completing-form-tr1-for-the-transfer-of-registered-property#how-to-complete-panels-in-form-tr1
