Hi. I'm hoping someone can assist me. My best friends husband of many years refuses to put her name on the deeds of her house or mortgage but was happy to put a large loan in her name. He's a controlling narcissist who's basically keep her financial hostage. She's tried to discuss this with him many, many time to no avail. Now she's getting older and is worried that should something happen to her, her children (not his) wouldn't inherit anything as he's made sure everything is in his name. I'm trying to help her so wonder would registering HR1 form secure her financial stake in the home and prevent him from selling etc.. if they were to split up? Any advice would be amazing. Many thanks :-)

Hi Carra - I'm sorry to read of the issues your friend is facing. Form HR1 is something to consider and the form HR1 and PG 20 explain how such things are dealt with from a registration perspective. Such a Notice, once registered, will deter a prospective buyer
Home rights and applications under the Family Law Act 1996 (PG20) - GOV.UK
But please do seek legal advice to understand what her rights are as a spouse and how such matters work legally
