When we moved to our current property there was an issue regarding leasehold agreement. Essentially, there was very small ground rent applied to the lease but this had never been collected and we were provided with Absentee Landlord Indemnity Insurance. We've lived here for over 12 years and are looking at moving but would like to know if/how we could apply to change to freehold given that the landlord remains absent (believed dead and the business registered to has dissolved) and we've never paid any ground rent in our time here?  Thanks

Richard - not something we can advise on as that's all to do with how the law views the deceased's estate/a dissolved company for example and I would strongly recommend seeking legal advice.
The other option is The Leasehold Advisory Service - Home - The Leasehold Advisory Service
