For almost 30 years I have been looking after a plot of land next to my garden, which was kept by the neighbour when he sold his property next to mine.   He then moved to Greece.   So I have been lopping the trees, mending my fences where branches have come down and I rehomed my miniature horses because the land is next to my small paddock and I was worried for them.  They came back from Greece, I got their contact number and asked what they intended to do with the land.  They think they will get permission for a house...it is ridiculous.  The land on all four sides  is owned by other people, there is no way of accessing it, meanwhile I am paying to keep it safe.  Once the owner came and paid for a tree to be felled.  Now nothing.  Can I claim the land as mine?  Can I get back the money I've spent?

Tina - claiming land is a very complex legal matter and I would recommend seeking legal advice to consider your options. They can also advise on any recompense re the works done as appropriate
Our PGs 4 and 5 offer guidance on how an application to register any claimed ownership might be made. But it's the legal Qs you need answers to before trying to tackle the LR ones
