Light Obstruction Notices (LONs) must be sent to HM Land Registry for registration where the Chief Land Registrar is the registering authority for the area in which your notice affects land.

Before you make your application, you can check online to see which authorities have migrated to our register - Check if a local authority is available on this service - Search for local land charges. If the authority has not migrated, please submit your application to the relevant authority accordingly.

Applications to HM Land Registry can be made by post to:
Light Obstruction Notices
PO Box 3286
Twyver House
Gloucester
GL1 9HP

Or electronically by using our contact form (your application will be processed much quicker if lodged electronically). A fee is payable for this application

Remember to include all the following or your application will be rejected:

Fully completed Form A (Form A is set out in Schedule 2 to the Local Land Charges Rules 2018)

Colour plan showing the building against which the notice is to be registered

Copy of the certificate issued by the Upper Tribunal

Fee

Please see Practice guide 79: Local Land Charges or further information.
