Can changes be made to restrictions on deeds, i.e from footpath to driveway without consulting with neighbours who ( according to title plan & deeds measurements ) own the slice of land needed to achieve the width needed for the change of use. This change of use was made in 1985 and added to their deeds.I have only noticed this recently as one of the neighbours was cutting down my hedge, when I challenged him as to why, he told me that he owned the hedge and he could do whatever he liked to get his vehicles in to his property, but the boundary shown on his deeds is marked in brown and described as a pathway to be used on foot only, Helpful advice needed, thanks.

David - registered information can be changed/updated provided a suitable and correct application is made to do so. From what you have shared I very much doubt that there has been any change re the registered information. And it reads as if your neighbour is interpreting the information and acting upon his own interpretation. If there is a dispute over the boundary position, what the land may or may not be used for and more it is legal advice you need here if unable to resolve it with your neighbour. The registered information can assist in such discussions but ultimately it will invariably come down to each interpretation alongside what it is one or both of you wish to achieve

Thank you Adam for your swift reply, unfortunately my neighbour is not someone you can talk to sensibly, I did try last year but was only met with threats & pushing me along the pathway.I'm nearly 76 and do not wish to get involved down an expensive legal path. Thanks again for your help.

David - all noted and appreciated. It can be very tricky if one party is far less willing to discuss such matters. We can only provide the registered information and that's part of any discussion to be had but a lot also depends on what a neighbour is trying to achieve and why. Good luck
