Andrea - you should start with confirming what's registered and if that is 'correct'. Clearly you don't think it is correct but was that an error on our part when registering or was it the deeds submitted? If it's not our error then the adverse possession option is one to consider. An alternative is whoever is registered as the landowner transfers it to you now. But please do seek legal advice before you do anything re contacting neighbours etc

Andrea - you should contact us with the specific details and/or check what the registered information refers to. For example if the single plot was split into four there would be 4 separate deeds transferring ownership and including a plan to define the transferred extent https://www.gov.uk/guidance/contact-hm-land-registry#contact-form

Andrea - and if, as seems likely, you are going to try and claim the land do not engage with your neighbours or alert others to the issue until you have sought legal advice to confirm options. Investigate and obtain information to help but don't commit to anything in conversation/writing with others as you need to know more before taking any action
