I paid off my mortgage with Natwest a month ago and they said they had removed the mortgage charge on the property but when I contacted a solicitor 2 weeks later to enquire about changing the name on the deeds they said the charge remained. Is there an easy way to see if this has now been removed or does someone contact you when this has been completed?

Kelly - what's the title number please?
Most lenders take on average between 2-3 weeks to apply to update the register after a mortgage has been redeemed

Hi Adam
The reference number the bank provided was LA187971/T362FTT/226.

They said the discharge was on 19th Feb 25 and that it would take approximately 1 month but I've still not heard anything

Thankyou

Kelly - many thanks. They removed their legal charge on the 19th Feb so the register has been updated. You are only informed by the lender in such cases
Not too sure why the solicitor you contacted advised the charge was still there 2 weeks later
If you want to check the register then you can do so at any time for a fee - Search for land and property information - GOV.UK

Thanks very much for checking. I'll get back in touch with them.
