25 years ago the Environment Agency leased land to build a fish pass by a weir, which crossed 2 freeholds. I'm a current director of Chamberhouse Mill Management Company, the original and current owner of one of those freeholds, BK155703. The other freehold, BK326537, has changed ownership twice since then, but was originally Colthrop Board Mill.
The problem is that there is only one known leasehold title, BK357532 which is for the lease from freehold BK326537. There must have been some mistake made because our freehold register for BK155703 also lists BK357532 as the lessee's title. That can't be right.
I have an official copy of the lease between Chamberhouse Mill Management Company and the Environment Agency. At the bottom of each page it has the usual red font with "This official copy is incomplete without the preceding notes page." But unfortunately it doesn't have the preceding notes page.
When I do a map search, only the BK357532 leasehold title shows up (among the surrounding freehold titles). Also, in the database of UK companies that own property in England and Wales, "our" lease is not listed there either.
A lot of things imply that our lease hasn't been registered, or hasn't been registered correctly. Could that be the case? But if so, where would our "official copy' have come from? And what about the error in our BK155703 register referring incorrectly to the BK357532 lease?
I hope someone is able to shed some light on this.
Many thanks.
