I work for a charity who previously leased a commercial property. For some reason our details are still listed as the Registered owners despite vacating in 2019. Unfortunately I don't have a copy of the surrender of lease document and have been unable to trace who we leased it from. How do I get us removed as registered owners of this property?

Kate - to get removed it either needs to be transferred by you to someone else or the lease 'determined'&#160;<br> <a href="https://www.gov.uk/government/publications/leases-determination/practice-guide-26-leases-determination">Practice guide 26: leases – determination - GOV.UK</a>

Thank you for the quick reply Adam. I believe someone else took on the lease when we vacated but I don't know who they are. The work to update the land registry was obviously never done but I'm now at a loss to work out what to do next. The property is currently occupied.

Kate - if someone 'took on the lease' then the outgoing tenant would have had to transfer it to the new one. The new tenant would then apply to update the register. Clearly that's not been done so I would recommend seeking legal advice to clarify what's now needed as without a transfer/reason to determine the lease the title will remain in play as is

OK thanks for clarifying Adam. I will seek legal advice.
