Hi. I have a title register which shows the current proprietor in proprietorship register as an entry dated 2006. If the property was jointly owned (under tenants in common) but the other owners passed away, and the other owners removed by supplying DJP1 with a death certificate, does the proprietorship register show the original date against the entry, or the date that DJP1 was processed? We are trying to establish whether the property was jointly owned at any time or not since registration.

Hi Robert - the surviving owner will still be shown as registered in 2006. You can apply for an historic edition of the register but what's the title number and I can check for you to confirm what date you would apply for to confirm as appropriate

Robert - many thanks
The 2nd May 2019 edition showed three individual owners and those three had been registered as owners since 2006 when the title was first registered
There were then two separate editions dated 19th Feb 2025 referring to just two and then one respectively
You can apply by post for historical editions of the register using form HC1 - Historical register/title plan: registration (HC1) - GOV.UK - cost £11 per copy payable by cheque/postal order to HM Land Registry
The register still refers to a form A/joint ownership restriction and that restriction is most often associated with the term 'tenants in common' - Joint property ownership: Overview - GOV.UK
