Hi,

I am just looking for some advice regarding preparing scale drawings for a partial transfer of some garden land. I have been referring to "HM Land Registry plans: the basis of Land Registry plans (practice guide 40, supplement 1) (www.gov.uk/government/publications/land-registry-plans-title-plan/land-registry-plans-title-plan-practice-guide-40-supplement-5)", but I am not clear what scale should be used for plans.

In section 5, "Title Plan Scales" it says that the scale will be 1:1250 for urban areas, but in the notes below the example in appendix 1 (section 15) it says the preferred scale is 1:500. Does that mean that if I submit a 1:500 scale drawing, HMLR will prepare their own drawing from that at 1:1250 scale? If I supply a 1:1250 scale drawing, will they just use that directly?

I think 1:500 is clearer for my purposes although I actually have downloaded both scales, so can prepare the drawing using either.

Many thanks for any assistance.

Tom.

Hi Tom - you really want supplement 2 section 5 and plans for transfers of part - Preparing plans for HM Land Registry applications (PG40s2) - GOV.UK
If the plan you provide is suitable then we will prepare a title plan as the guidance you refer to explains
