As a trustee of a small village charity which owns the old primary school and school (and a field) I need to update the names of the present trustees on the title registers but cannot find an appropriate form to do so.  There are three title registrations which need to be updated by present trustees; one concerns a former trustee who has retired and been replaced; one which is in the Official Custodian for Charities but the details of the trustees are as the previous title so need updating and the final one which requires all the trustees listed to be replaced by the present trustees as none of the previous trustees are active in the matters of the charity any more.  Please advise.

The application form would be a form AP1 if all are registered titles.

Thank you.  We are  in the unfortunate position of having two former trustees retire and 2 have moved away (to retire nearer their families I think) so what should I do if I cannot contact the retired ones and what about the ones who have passed away? Can the present trustees still submit the amendments?

Jacky - it all depends who are registered as the legal owners. If you have for example 4 named individuals then they will all have to transfer the legal ownership

The PG 24 takes you through the different options/scenarios re updating the register. If the titles have been dealt with differently you may need to seek legal advice/assistance to explain how the trust is set up, can operate and how changes to the trustees might be made and more

Thank you Adam,  Myself and one other trustee are listed on the title documents, so I have called a meeting of the trustees during next week so we can review the situation and start the process of updating the records.  Many thanks for your time, really appreciated.

Jacky - good idea and I hope you are able to resolve all three title updates. There's a limit to what we can assist with and the PG 24 is really the 'best' guidance we can give.
If uncertainties remain after your discussions with regards what's 'best' or needs to be done then please do consider seeking appropriate legal advice as well
