Challenging council tax band, 1991 sold house prices

I'm hoping this is the right forum... I am challenging my council tax band and have been told I need to find house sold prices in 1991 or thereabouts for similar houses in my street.

These are not available online. And I only have estate agents adverts in local newspapers which they say they won't accept.

Can I find these from the Land Registry? Or can I only ask for the details of the _last_ sold price for any particular house?

My problem is that I have 18 houses, and I don't know if _any_ of them actually sold in 1991. Thx!

Hi Nicki - Our Price paid data is derived from all residential property transactions registered with HM Land Registry since January 1995. We did not record the price paid information prior to that, which means if you require information before that period you would have to identify which properties may have been sold at the time and then obtain the relevant Transfer / Conveyance deed to obtain the price paid information.

Apart from being time consuming and costly exercise, the additional difficulty is most of our titles were not computerised at the time so the information will not be easily available.

I would suggest you use the Contact form on our website and ask our Customer Support if they would be able to identify any properties that may have changed hands at the time.
