Hi,<br> I'm after some advice I'm POA for father and need to sell his house for care fees. He had 2 charges on his property back many years with barcleys bank. I have the form 53 dated 1995 to say charges have been discharged, but its not on land registry. Barcleys have been helpful and although they can't see the discharge there end said they can update land registry and to give it a few weeks. Just after some advice as it if they can actually do this or if I need to be doing something else myself. The property title number is 230640 Many thanks

Hi Margaret - there's just the one legal charge registered and Barclays can apply to remove it electronically and direct with us. If they are willing to now do that for you then I would recommend that you ask them to.
The form 53 is the old paper form used to discharge a legal charge and I suspect they sent it to your Father at the time with paperwork advising him to apply direct to us himself with the form
