We have a charge on the property that we own that we will pay my parents X amount within 5 years of transfer as the property was inherited. We however have come to a mutual agreement not to pay this amount, how do we get the charge removed as there is no proof of a transaction or proof of payment. Will it require a solicitor or can we do it between ourselves?

Laura - if it is a registered legal charge then you will need the lenders/creditors to submit forms DS2, DS1 and ID1/ID3 as appropriate&#160;<br> <a href="https://www.gov.uk/government/publications/mortgage-cancellation-of-entries-for-lenders-ds1">Mortgage: cancellation of entries for lenders (DS1) - GOV.UK</a><br> <a href="https://www.gov.uk/government/publications/cancel-entries-relating-to-a-charge-registration-ds2">Cancel entries relating to a charge: registration (DS2) - GOV.UK</a>&#160;and&#160;<br> <a href="https://www.gov.uk/government/publications/evidence-of-identity-conveyancers/practice-guide-67-evidence-of-identity-conveyancers">Practice guide 67: evidence of identity - GOV.UK</a>
