Hi ,

sorry think i posted in the wrong forum originally.

To give you some back ground....

My FIL passed away very recently, and my MIL has terminal cancer. As a result MIL has come to live with us and is selling her property. Sale is agreed but the solicitors have advised they have found a second charge from Barclays in the Deeds, and that they cant complete sale until this is discharged.

MIL has no recollection of this charge, and certainly 42 years later, no paperwork relating to the matter.

Without an account number Barclays / solicItors claim they are unable to help, but clearly 42 years later the matter has been settled.

Can anyone advise how we can go about getting this charge cleared for her please.

As i said, she is poorly herself, and is becomingly increasing stressed and worried about this charge, at a time when we need her to be relaxed and enjoying the latter stages of her life.

Any ideas who we should be contacting given the bank claim they cant help without an account number ??

Thanks
karl
