Hello, my father has recently died and we are applying on form DJP to remove his name from the register.  Currently the title is registered in my parents joint names and my mum survives my Dad.  The leasehold and the freehold are currently registered under separate title numbers, both in my parents' joint names.  Do we need to complete 2 DJP forms, one for each title number or can both be done on one form?
We would also like to apply for the freehold and leasehold titles to be merged - can you please advise which form is needed for that and whether it can be done at the same time or whether we should wait for Dad's name to be removed first.
Thanks

Hello Susan - you can list both titles on one form DJP
However if you are applying to merge the two titles then you can apply to merge the two titles on form AP1 and also include the certified copy of the death certificate and a request in panel 4 to record the death of the joint owner also. So just one application to do both
The fee is £40 payable to HM Land Registry by cheque/postal order.

That's very helpful, thank you Adam.
I've completed panel 4 asking for (i) Lease closure (merger) and (ii) to record the death and remove the name of my father and I will include the death certificate with the application.
It doesn't look to me as though you need me to send evidence of my mother's identity (as the other joint owner she is currently recorded on both titles).  Is that correct?

Susan - all correct. Don't send the original death certificate though but send us either an official copy or a certified copy
