Can members of public use DRS to transfer property?

I am wanting to transfer a property which is in my sole name to my partner in his sole name.  There will be no exchange of money.  I know that I can fill in AP1 and ID1 (although I don't know who to get to authenticate our ID) and then send the documents with the fee (a postal order?) through the post. 

Is there a way to do this using the portal or an online system.  

A colleague of my partner's has said that he has used an app to do this and that ID is authenticated via the chip on a passport.  Is this a real app?

Barbara - No re DRS use and not heard of an app that does what's been suggested
