Hi-
The land registry uses my married name, but I have never formally changed identification to this (i.e. All formal ID is in my maiden name). What is the best way to rectify this? I would ideally like everything to be in my maiden name.

Hi Sarah - we will have registered your name as applied for when the register was updated. If the name provided was the wrong one or it needs updating then you would need to make an application (form AP1) plus supporting evidence to confirm your legal name eg copy of passport page or driving licence plus marriage certificate

Thanks for the swift response!

Can I just check that this still is the case if I don't have any formal ID in my married name, and that my marriage cert will be enough? The details on the AP1 form suggest that I might have to provide formal ID in my 'previous' name so that it can be changed to the new one, but I didn't ever have formal ID in the 'previous' name (i.e. my married name)- everything is in my maiden name.

Sarah - presumably your marriage certificate refers to both names?
I would suggest making the application with whatever supporting evidence you have (passport/driving licence are 'best') and go from there
If we require formal ID verification we will ask for it as appropriate
