Good afternoon,

I have just paid off my mortgage and my mortgage company has informed me that the Land Registry has removed their charge on my property.  Do I have to request the deeds of my property to be sent to me or can they simply stay where they are?  I aim to move home this year and did not know if I need the deeds when I sell.

Many thanks

Good Afternoon Simon - there are no 'deeds' as such as the registered information is held by us electronically. You can check the registered information at any time for a fee
Search for land and property information - GOV.UK
As and when you sell a buyer would check the registered information held by us and not rely on for example a copy or indeed original deeds/documents you might hold
Where are my title deeds, and do I need them? – HM Land Registry
