My stepdaughter and her husband have been the joint registered proprietors of their house since March 2014.  I recently needed to check on their behalf the wording of some restrictive covenants on the title and discovered that my daughter's surname in the proprietorship register is mis-spelt.  It is not known whether this is because of a mistake in the transfer deed submitted for registration in 2014 or an error by the Land Registry in processing the transfer.

How should my daughter make an application to correct the proprietorship register and what documents will be needed to support any application?  Can she make the application herself or will she have to use a solicitor/conveyancer.

John - she can apply by post using form AP1 (panels 1-7 and 15 only) and provide a certified copy of her passport (name page) or driving licence to confirm the correct spelling
