After my father passed away, my mother updated her will and added me as a registered owner of her house (no mortgage). This was on the advice of the solicitor as this was where I was living and so that council couldn't take it if my mum needed care. Also, she fell out with my brother and didn't want him contesting anything when she passed away.
I now want to purchase my first house and I'm really going to get stitched up with stamp duty. Is it easy enough to remove myself as a registered owner? Never wanted to be put on it in the first place, but did it to please everyone else and have shot myself in the foot! Thanks

Jill - the two of you would need to transfer the whole legal ownership again - Registering land or property with HM Land Registry: Change the registered owner name - GOV.UK
