We are trying to extend our leasehold property. We extended the lease in 2018 with no problems. Our buyer is asking for the original lease from 1965 which we don’t have. Land Registry don’t have it, the solicitors cannot locate it and the land owner do not have it. So there is t one basically. What can our solicitors do to ensure our 2018 lease has all the restrictions and property plan which is what the buyer is asking for

Katie - this can happen and responsibility for holding copies/originals of the lease/counterpart lie with the landlord and tenant. If the original lease can't be found then one option is to have a new one drawn up to satisfy the buyer's requirements. The new lease would include everything then needed and in effect 'do away with' the 1965 and 2018 deeds
But those are Qs for the conveyancers to answer and not HMLR so do rely on your legal advice here

Many thanks Adam, we have taken advice from another solicitor today who advice’s a deed of variation like you have said. If only our current solicitor would come up with something. Her only advice has been to pull out and hope the next person isn’t as thorough
